THE GARDEN PROJECT was an initiative founded by myself and Karen Ancheta (Porch Light Theatre) alongside Matthew MacFazdean, Rick Banville, Anna Chatterton, Laura Welch and Rose Hopkins (Industry) to commission 4 IBPOC Hamilton-based artists with $2000 of seed money to each write or develop new work.

Each artist was paired with a dramaturg / mentor of their choice who was be paid for their consultation. The Garden Project exists to nurture a network of support for IBPOC artists in Hamilton and begin a culture of getting fairly compensated for new work creation within the city.

Thanks to an aggressive fundraising campaign, we raised over $18000 in four weeks from June-July 2020 and through an open application process, funded new work by Radha S. Menon, Kitoko Mai, Unsettled Scores, and Eli Farango.
