GEODE by Aaron Jan

It’s lunchtime at Westdale Secondary School and the Campaign to Re-elect Sydney Porier as student council president is in crisis. An altercation with opponent Arnold Wong led to Sydney hurling a geode from science class at his head. The school is outraged, social media is abuzz, the vice principal might become involved – unless Sydney apologizes. The only trouble is, Sydney does not feel sorry. Explore the ethics of public apologies in a teenage political thriller about the cutthroat world of campaigns and social media.
GEODE was commissioned by Boca Del Lupo in partnership with Factory Theatre as a part of the Ontario box version of Plays2Perform@Home. The box includes new, short plays by myself, Jeff Ho, Marina Moreira and Rachel Mutombo (http://bocadellupo.com/plays2perform/).
Groups of four can act and perform GEODE at home, outside, or anywhere they want!
GEODE was dramaturged by Matt McGeachy and Sherry Yoon and is available for purchase at https://boca-del-lupo-theatre.square.site/
