A sold out hit at the 2019 Next Stage Theatre Festival, GA TING followed an immigrant Chinese couple coming to terms with the death of their son, Kevin. When Kevin’s Caucasian boyfriend is invited for dinner after the funeral, the evening devolves into a fiery cultural and generational clash. It is one family’s struggle to accept their son as he was, not as they wished him to be.

My vision for GA TING placed memories of Kevin's life in boxes, imagining that his family was in the midst of packing up his room. The reveal of different artifacts triggered flashbacks, ending with a dining room filled increasingly with tangible core memories as the characters fought over who was more accountable in Kevin's suicide.
